Subaru Continues Support of National Car Care Month
Subaru of America, Inc. today announced its continued support of National Car Care Month (NCCM), a nationwide effort by businesses, civic groups, government, media and the Car Care Council focusing motorists' attention on the need to maintain and repair their vehicles.
The NCCM annual event and the "Be Car Care Aware" slogan are designed to increase public awareness about the benefits of preventive maintenance. Subaru encourages all of its dealers to participate by providing free service inspection to owners during this spring season.
"A very large percent of our dealers participate in National Car Care Month each year. They recognize that this is a good time to help educate customers about the benefits of regular maintenance of their vehicles," said Ginny Newkirk, fixed operations advertising and communications manager, Subaru of America, Inc. "Some of our dealers hold special events with entertainment and food, while others offer free inspections over a period of a week or more, whenever it is convenient for the owner to come in."
At the Subaru clinics, owners receive a no obligation, professional diagnostic check-up of their vehicle's condition. The inspection includes a check-up of major operating systems and a written report of the vehicle's condition. Subaru encourages all owners to take advantage of this opportunity before the summer vacation driving season.
According to the Car Care Council statistics, nine out of 10 drivers believe regular car maintenance is extremely important to driver and passenger safety. However, a survey of last year's NCCM inspections showed that 87 percent of the cars had one or more systems, products or fluids that required attention. Last year's Car Care Council statistics showed that 33 percent of vehicles had low or dirty engine oil and 26 percent had over or under-inflated tires - which can contribute to reduced performance and gas mileage.
